Jakab Dőry is granted the limited ennoblement (‘nemesség’) by King Lajos I and thus establishes the line that later adopts the surname Dőry.  Wikipedia

Beginning of the 15th century

The family begins to use the name Dőry – derived from their estates in Dör and Jobaháza in Rábaköz (western Hungary). Wikipedia

A collateral line moves to Gömör and Borsod (north-east Hungary).

1741 & 1759

The Gömör-Borsod line is first (1741) and again (1759) elevated to the Hungarian barony (address in Baro). Wikipedia

Dőry Ádám (1716-1798), royal councillor and alispán of Tolna, founded the Paradicsompusztai estate and manor near Zomba, among other things. Wikipedia

Ferenc Dőry receives the title of count (grófi rang), but this line of counts is already extinguished with his grandchildren. Wikipedia

The Tolna branch (descended from Dőry Ádám) is once again admitted to the baronial nobility, now with the permanent title of baron. Wikipedia

Lajos Dőry, commander (tábornok) of outstanding military merit, retires with the rank of major general (vezérőrnagy). Wikipedia

Mikszáth Kálmán publishes the novel ‘Különös házasság’, in which he has a fictionalised Baron Dőry and his daughter appear – inspired by real Dőry events. Wikipedia

Dőry Ferenc, director of the Hungarian National Archives, publishes a documentary study in which he compares and corrects the historical facts with Mikszáth’s story. Wikipedia
